Hi Mallyrock,
Thanks for the Stock***d article, I haven't been following AR3 much of late, but of note to me in the "brutally honest" article was the revelation from Rick Pobjoy; "Pobjoy says the testing indicates between 20-30% of REEs are in this adsorbed phase at Koppamurra."; or to put it another way, between 70-80% of the REEs are not ionically absorbed and therefor contained in acid soluble and/or refractory ore that would require refractory processing to liberate the REEs.
I'm not sure if this detail has been previously revealed by AR3, but it does go part way to answering the question; "It would be nice to know the proportion of IAC v. refractory hosted REE's ores", I posed in relation to the company's ASX announcement of 04/04/2022; Positive metallurgical results from Koppamurra, which stated that; "The Koppamurra resource is recognised as a clay hosted REE deposit, characterised by a combination of ionically adsorbed, acid soluble and refractory rare earth minerals."
Maybe there has been an updated met testing announcement subsequently released that I had missed, but I don't know if I would be bragging that my IAC project only contained 20-30% IA's in the total REE assemblage. Added to the high strip ratio, the thin ore body and the high acid consumption for an IAC deposit and doubts over getting approval to strip mine next door to the Coonawarra wine growing region, it doesn't bode well for the Koppamurra project IMHO.
As for the current S.A. government's approach to granting mining approvals in S.A. winegrowing regions, the following article is from today's The Australian; Bird In Hand winery wins fight against Terramin mine at Woodside _ The Australian.pdf
