Correct me if I'm wrong but you are talking about short term paint for long term gain?
Invest money into exploration to prolong life of mine and ATM output but maintain profitability.
If I have your analogy correct - a business that doesn't invest in stock to sell, won't have anything to sell if they blow their capital on fancy signs or a flash checkout that won't have anything to scan.
I have invested in multiple stocks where buy-backs have occurred when and only when the business is stable, profitable and the risk is low. They have paid a premium for those stocks but it actually boosted the SP, created value and provided confidence.
The ranting ceased from shareholders when they saw the upside, dividends and new money pouring in.
Not saying our management has this foresight or plan..
