Laos is now an economic basketcase with rampant inflation and no way out of its debt issues. It is a one party state run by former Marxists and is totally dependent on China.
the Mekong is being destroyed by a multitude of Lao hydro plants . The power is sent to Thailand to provide air-conditioning for massive shopping centres in Bangkok.....and for the Chatree gold mine!
And if you ever get the chance visit Luang Prabang before the Chinese ruin it .
