Mali are only going after LLL and as far as we know, not GF. On that basis its likely the LLL/FFX connection that Mali disputes. What worries me is if the dispute was only about taxes and / or which version mining code we are deemed to be under, why wouldn't that be announced? It would normally be disclosed via ann.
IMO Mali makes no distinction between FFX and LLL and are applying pressure for compensation as well as deciding we should fall under the new mining code.
They are Military and they go straight for the throat. Negotiation skills are likely their weakest skill.
They are obviously asking LLL for way to much and hopefully settle for a manageable $ sum.
