Wasn't putting the perception all on you by any means. As I said lots of people on HC seem to think China has some great reach into Mali that doesn't appear to be the case based on any evidence. There's little historical contact, not a whole lot of Chinese money in form of development loans etc that is often the way countries get and hold sway in Africa - though it has been growing from a tiny base over recent years.
Given Leo is the manager of the project, they'll be undertaking any negotiations, talks etc. It's up to Simon and the lawyers. I think at the end of the day, GF want the product - which they have already secured via offtake rights established in the JV agreement. They'll go along to get along to make that happen. And we probably will too.
We should cancel any social programs we are paying for IMO. Teachers, schools, Fish farms, medicals, training, women's associations - whatever. Cancel the lot. F it Mali can afford them now.
