Folks here should not be too critical of Kik and Josh, they are simply pushing a point, and if you have a lot of experience in the small cap mining space on the ASX, you will know that it's a valid one.
From experience, you will all know that a company does not go into information lock-down for long periods of time if the issues are standard ones, or even moderately difficult. And they do not refuse to provide information when requested by the ASX, if the issues are usually fairly resolvable.
For instance, for example, as has been stated, if a government says that a company has to pay $80 million extra in taxes or royalties, well ....... the company announces this, takes the subsequent share price hit, does a raise, and then comes back to trading. It just sucks-it-up, pays the extra dues, tells everyone that they have negotiated but the outcome is final, and then comes back trading, usually taking no more than a month.
The fact that this is not happening here, is a significant red flag, and the excuses given by the company, when read by someone of vast experience in dealing with the small cap resources sector on the ASX, simply do not wash as sufficient.
What would be a particular shame now, is for some large shareholders to consider hiring corporate industrial detectives to find out the truth. Initial approaches may have already been made.
It's not just reputations that are on the line here, some people may have significant life savings tied up here, and they deserve to know the truth, not only for financial reasons, but for some of them it may be for mental health reasons as well.
So, regardless of the business fallout, the truth should be stated, if only to help preserve some people's lives and mental health.
Let the cards fall how they will, and whichever way, it is always better for them to fall as a result of the truth, rather than from abstruseness or concealment.
Humans are often much better at dealing with the truth, than many people often realize or give them credit for.
