I don't think the full details of the Freemium model have been released, but what has been discussed is that the free versions will have limited functionality and if users want a more comprehensive experience then they will have to used the paid model. For example, more bandwidth/conversations/premium avatars etc. Freemium will have enough functionality to try out but not enough to use commercially.
