Baidu Developing Artificial Intelligence-Based Chatbot; Shares Pop Premarket

BIDU said Tuesday it is developing an artificial intelligence-based chatbot that it started in 2019 as a language model.
Ernie, short for Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration, has been in development since March 2019 and is in its third version as of May 2022, the company said on Twitter.
The company aims to launch the product in March, Reuters reported, citing an unnamed person familiar with the matter.
Baidu shares rose nearly 12% in recent premarket activity.
