Thats how accumulation works mate. If I am trying to accumulate, why would I buy large parcels, spike the volume and the price? I would just take what I can get at the current levels, which is what is happening. When volume spikes, the bid gets sold into and we repeat...until selling is exhausted. Accumulation is a game of patience and institutions are very good at it, capitalising off the impatience and emotional reaction of retail investors.
The downtrend has occurred on low volume, suggesting accumulation (volume price divergence). Analagous to a spring being wound as supply dries up at current levels once selling becomes exhausted.
