Once there had been a traditional notion that Artificial Intelligence (AI) requires sophisticated processing power and can only be deployed by multimillion dollar businesses, but no – it’s a fallacy.

This myth has been debunked by AI company UNITH (ASX: UNT) which is on track to launch the new version of its Digital Human platform as an AI solution to automate basic business functions which will be accessible from even the world’s most basic phones.

UNITH has been focusing on launching a self-service platform by the end of 2023 with CEO Idan Schmorak anticipating business owners to customise their own digital human employees as a reliable solution to human resources.

“[The] vision is every small business, every business, could go and log in, choose their face or upload their own, choose a voice or clone their own voice which is an ability that we have and we can do it within around 30 minutes,” said Schmorak. Schmorak expects that these digital humans will be able to assist with onboarding, sales, marketing tasks or just frequently asked questions on the website.

Leading up to the launch, UNITH had implemented several tech and infrastructure upgrades such as new server architecture with optimised bandwidth usage by 15x, allowing the AI to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and interact with multiple customers concurrently without lag.

The self-service platform, as UNITH envisioned, will deliver its significant purpose only if it can be accessed by almost all internet users, even those in remote locations limited by 3G networks, or older smartphone models in developing countries.

The development of the platform to function in such a way is reflective of mobile devices now generating more than 58% of the world’s global website traffic. Those numbers continue to trend upwards, having only surpassed 50% in 2020 where it is particularly common in SouthEast Asia for all members of a household to own their own mobile device instead of individual computers. Schmorak is confident that UNITH’s tech capabilities are fully equipped to support the platform in delivering consistent graphics and functionalities across all devices

.“We are advantaged in terms of technology as this can work on a very low price point on any website on any device, You won’t need a fancy computer with strong graphics in order to run it. This would work also on your $100 mobile phone if you have one.” The platform will start-off free of charge at commencement, but will be kept affordable for businesses of all sizes once it has transitioned to the freemium model with more features around customisability.

Additional language options are also likely to be offered on higher subscriptions based on the platform’s digital humans being able to converse in more than 60 different languages.

“The most basic premium package will cost around $10 per month,” said Schmorak. While there are still a few months to go until the self-service platform will be accessible to business owners, UNITH’s Digital Human technology has already been adopted by one of the Big 5 Tech companies (Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta, or Microsoft).“We have signed the most important one (deal), which is our flagship experience.

We can’t mention any name due to confidentiality reasons, but in short we help them to onboard employees in one of their flagship divisions in Europe,” said Schmorak. “We use this as a major validation of our system and we collect a lot of information on how the system is used.” To date, only one of the digital humans employed by the Big 5 Tech company has been deployed with the second (of three) to be commissioned in the coming months.
