"Tesla's move to cut prices across its lineup by 20 per cent in the US and across Europe to drive up demand appears to be weighing on lithium stocks.
Liontown Resources, which signed an offtake agreement with Tesla last year, was down 2.6 per cent to $1.52 as the second worst performer on the ASX 200. Core Lithium, which agreement with Tesla collapsed last year, was the biggest laggard, down 4.9 per cent.
Tesla has lowered the cost of the cheapest Model Y from $US65,990 to $US52,990, while its Model 3 has been discounted by 6.4 per cent.
Lithium carbonate prices have lost nearly 20 per cent of their value in the past two months to be buying 480,500 yuan ($102,662.19) as brokers warn that tighten demand would ease in the market."
