Personally, I find the entire “climate change/alarmism narrative” amusing.
And I’m someone who thoroughly believes in doing what we can to preserve the environment… and I adore animals/wildlife.
But for these reasons :
- I’ve lost count of how many times the world was supposed to end, or how Australia was supposed to be in a “forever drought” via global warming etc.
- The elitist f***wits who lecture us peasants on what we should and shouldn’t be doing, are usually the biggest offenders of that they are trying to stop/minimise. They’ll tell you to stop emitting CO2 into the atmosphere, whilst they fly around on private jets and have mansions that leave bigger carbon footprints than multiple standard family homes put together.
- “The science” is politically and economically motivated. This is nothing new. Dissenting views that stray from the narrative, even from respected and qualified scientists, are ignored and even passed off as “conspiracy theories” (SJW buzzword of 2022). We saw this during COVID as well.
- We emit a small amount, relative to other countries. But there seems to be zero care about enforcing policies that cause energy prices to soar and throw hundreds of thousands into financial strain/poverty …. Even though we know that poverty is one of the leading causes of people to not GAF about the environment (because when you’re poor, the environment becomes less of a priority).
Most of the messy stuff is just being palmed off to other countries anyway ….
- There seems to be zero issues with pillaging the earth and exploiting child labour to source materials for these “green energy sources”. The notion that they are actually “green”, seems to be predicated on ignoring the “sourcing and disposing” of their base materials.
- All the focus is on “carbon emissions”, almost zero focus on things like - Recyclying, excess plastic use, dumping in the ocean/waterways etc … you know, the things that are less divisive/speculative, and that meaningful change could be cooperated on.
IMO, countries should do what they need to do to secure energy etc that allows the economy and population to thrive… then assist bringing the “lower class” into the middle class, all whilst making the transition to cleaner energy sources with sensible policy.
I’ve gone off on a bit of a tangent …. but I’m looking forward to hopefully an eventful couple of weeks/months for NRZ.
Have a great weekend all !
