Use of Niobium Breakthrough
Recent advancements have highlighted the potential of niobium-doped titanium oxide (Nb-TiO2) as a promising material for PFAS destruction through electrochemical advanced oxidative processes (EAOP). EAOPs utilize electricity to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) that break down the carbon-fluorine bonds in PFAS. Nb-TiO2 has shown effectiveness in generating high levels of ROS, making it a cost-effective and stable alternative to current materials like boron-doped diamond (BDD) and Magnéli phase titanium oxides (Ti4O7) (Niobium Technology & Applications) (CBMM) .
That's very cool. Humans are cool and innovative. Fluorinated compounds can be nearly impossible to break down as their C-F bonds are among the strongest known. If only we had a way to easily deal with bromates etc.
