Role of the Appeals Convenor:

1. Advisory Role:

   • Acts as a trusted advisor to the Minister for Environment and other relevant ministers regarding appeals lodged under environmental legislation.
   • Provides independent and objective advice on the merit of the appeals.

2. Appeal Management:

   • Manages the process of handling appeals related to environmental assessments and decisions.
   • Facilitates the resolution of appeals by assessing the issues raised and recommending appropriate actions.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:

   • Coordinates and manages relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including appellants, government agencies, industry representatives, and community members.
   • Ensures effective communication and consultation with all parties involved in the appeals process.

4. Decision Making:

   • Assists in the resolution of complex and contentious matters, often involving detailed technical and environmental considerations.
   • Supports the Minister in making informed decisions on whether to uphold, dismiss, or amend the original decisions under appeals
