Defending unrealised capital gains tax is socialist though. This policy is going to affect everyone's WA1 shares because it disincentivises the founders.

This is a particularly important issue for explorers & junior miners & this is a general discussion thread.

Blue'ie I have lived off my super for the last 15 years, started with well less than 1M and still have plenty, expect plenty to be passed as inheritance. 3M + is more than Keating would have modelled all those years ago, even considering inflation.

There are old State/Commonwealth pensions for people under executive level ("grade 11 and 12 clerks") with a defined benefit and 2/3 of pension for their heir/survivor spouse becoming a widow/widower.

The present value of paying from 60 to 90, 15 years for both, and 15 years at the 2/3 rate is substantial.

Even starting off at a modest income of 75k for a middle manager's final salary probably exceeding 125k and at the time having a final payout for sick leave etc in the hundreds of thousands of dollars - maybe ETP - their pension is tax free.

The present value of the 1st 15 years (assumed in the modelling of most State pension plans like NSW SSS) exceeds 1.1 mn.

The RBA has said inflation is no longer a priority last year and 1 mn in 1992 now is about 23 mn.

This can absolutely affect what you might consider normal people with a paid off home but no other significant investments other than a sizeable term deposit, a fair wad of disposable cash and a pension.

The privately owned funds we have been pushed into are going to be more sensitive to loose monetary policy.
