Don't know if anyone knows the answer of how much niobium would be used in lithium batteries, but as a basis, if just 50g of Niobium was used per Kwh, then 1Twh of batteries would require 50,000 tonnes.
Projections I've seen are for 3Twh of lithium batteries to be produced per year in 2030, with quantities rising rapidly after that. Niobium seems to greatly extend battery life and allow high rates of charging, both highly needed in the world of lithium batteries.
This is obviously a monster with lots of people trying to work out just how valuable our resource is, what quantities will be needed in the future etc. Looking at some of the grades we could have phosphate fertilizer as a byproduct!!
This is a fantastic resource, big miners should be all over this at current price, so IMHO I don't think we'll be at these levels for long...
