The contrived trading makes me wonder if there are more than one bot in there, each trying to do the usual up, down, up moves to gain shares, but end up taking shares off each other and neither gaining the quantity of shares required by the order.
Then along comes a larger order like the 800k that possibly involved a ring around by a broker to get clients to put up shares for sale, that was taken in one hit after market, that upset the bots normal action. That 800k shares parcel was ~1.3% of the company, perhaps it wasn't someone finishing off a 5% sub holder order, perhaps it was someone starting one, who knows, there are so many possible combinations.
