As an existing EV owner, it's readily apparent that demand has fallen off in the past few months as all us early adopters have already purchased. This is the perfect time for a breakthrough in battery chemistry to push things along, and niobium is looking like the perfect candidate for that. Prototype batteries using niobium are already out there, which would address the concerns that ICE car drivers still have - longer life, MUCH faster charging, more stable and safer. The way some utilities (Ausgrid just announced) are starting to charge solar panel owners to export back into the grid, and reducing feed in tarriffs generally, can only lead to higher demand for home storage batteries too. The reduced charging time of niobium-chemistry batteries indirectly addresses the shortage of EV charging sites too - if each car is only on the charger for 10-15 minutes instead of hours, we don't need so many public chargers.
