Cheers Naydoe. Thorium (and uranium) content certainly seems to be a consideration, but do you have a source for it? The Mt Weld paper I linked detailing the flaws in the mineralogy doesn't seem to make any mention of it, and for some crude estimates, this Lynas release quotes .05% thorium, at least for the rare earth ores, and this old Araxa paper quotes 2-3% thorium (!) in the niobium ore, all the way through to the leached concentrate, and then seemingly removed as slag, along with the uranium, in the final ferroniobium synthesis..
