The volatility is extreme due to the high price and low shares on issue (low liquidity). I don't know whether its manipulation or not, but it would be easy for the big money to do it if they wanted to and the rewards would be enticing. It's not easy to play the trading game however, as the stock can quickly get away from you as shown on Wednesday and again today. Some could have made big money and equally others could have lost.
Not sure if it's the right time for a share split but it's one way to help manage volatility.
