@rolf2903 ... The lack of buying, especially from retail, is that our share price seems too high for most people. They are looking for the next 5 to 10 to 100 bagger and prefer to speculate in companies with much lower SPs, in the cents range.
Companies in the dollar ranges are those for 'investments', that are stable businesses with income and paying dividends. So many retail shareholders are part time not looking at the big picture of Market Cap to see the potential in a stock. The high price of Fortescue shares is why Twiggy did a 10/1 split at the time, so retail would see value in the cheaper price.
It sounds totally implausible to those with lots of experience in the markets, and fully understand Mcap, but if our share price was 17c with 6.2B shares, we would much more easily go to 30-50c, than from $17 to $30-$50 with 62m shares.
In the longer term it wont make much difference, in fact less shares would be preferable, but a small tight register is easier to manipulate the SP in the early stages, but will come to bite those trying to accumulate shares if the register remains tight..
