Very well written response. CBMM is expanding their production to meet growing demand for niobium, not to drive out competitors. In fact like you’ve said, why would they destroy their own profits just to drive us out of market? They can’t, because our high grades are up there and directly comparable to theirs. They can however try and drive the lower grade producers out if they wanted to. If they do that, then they’re essentially taking out the “other non-CBMM” 30k tonnes of supply from the world market and guess where these desperate customers will look for to meet their demands? You’ve guessed it right. WA1!
In the end, the market will re-balance itself and niobium price will head up again. I mean just look at iron ore and lithium as examples. Short term depressed prices will eventually bounce back to met demand. And it will only benefit high grade future producers like us.
