A person or organisation who owns or has voting control over 25% or more of a company’s shares can unilaterally block the approval of a takeover conducted by a scheme of arrangement, because one of the scheme voting thresholds is approval by at least 75% of the votes cast on the scheme resolution.
Aus Super knows how valuable Syrah is - I believe they have acquired such a large controlling stake to prevent a stealth takeover for peanuts - outside their control.
That said if heavy buying were to happen early in the new financial year as I suspect it might - I wouldn’t rule out Aus Super as part of a Syndicate taking it private.
