He would need to get it for lithium as well. Trump would not ignore tariffs on all the major materials that China is holding the west captive on because Musk does not want to pay a small amount more on costs, especially after imposing a 2000% tariff on Chinese EVs. I am pretty comfortable in my assessment on that. At worst he may bring in tariffs on a schedule such as 25% immediately, and to 60% in 18 months which gives US companies time to ramp up production.
