They have been made lazy by nearly a century of easy money. They are trying to set up a state directed economy to compete with cut-throat markets in the west and a hungry Chinese population willing to work for a pittance. They would be better off investing their money in foreign companies and living off the proceeds. A country that only allowed women to drive in 2018 because the Kind decreed that it is "in keeping with Shariah" is not going to be a home of innovation.
