Sodium Ion have less energy density to weight which makes them good for storage points but not so good in vehicles there is also the vanadium alternative again abundant and cheap but heavy. I know vanadium does not degarade like Lithium and provides a longer term stable storage source for big battery purposes. I have not seen the info on performance longevity for sodium.
Also current pricing on Litium makes Sodium less viable.
