There is no rule stating that ALTM has to open at 5.5 as per LTM close. ALTM can open at 6.5 or 4.5 or any other price, it all depends on buyers vs sellers like any other stock.
While the above holds true, generally SP of same stock on different indexes will track closely, as big brokers buy on one index and sell on other index to make profits.
Luckily, US doesn't follow ASX price closely, so it is possible that US might close at higher price and tomorrow LTM might follow with a green day.
