@Monetenmän - Thanks for your response - I had thought about the mining history of Steiermark etc. too - and the Erzberg, Leoben, etc - have old musician friends in Graz.
My interest in this specific mine:
as a 6-year old - after the war - I was taken in by a wealthy Carynthian farming family (near Penk) to have the best holiday of my life. I have also had a beloved uncle who was from Carynthia - (long passed into the Märchenwiese fields . . . do you know that landscape?? - it is truly beautiful, just south-east of Klagenfurt)
I - later - when running a German/Austrian weekly radio program on local radio (Perth, Western Australia), I discovered that one of the kids I played with, had become a musician and I found his music on a record (Schallplatte) ; there he was, with a small trio, playing the accordeon beautifully, in a piece called 'Frühling in Penk' - plus his name. So when I got home I got in touch via a simple phonecall - this is how easy the modern world is.
On a personal visit in the late 1990s I refreshed my impression of the beauty of the landscape - the clean unpolluted air - the friendly often humorous, musical people - hence I 'invested' in EUR for a while, until I realised exactly how it is possible to mine the ASX (i.e. its 'investors') - without ever actually mining - I sold my holding at a small loss.
As far as the lithium is concerned, it is there - I even got in touch with a professor (now living in Linz, forgot his name, sorry) who was there as part of a team, who did the original investigation, when the mine was still state property (but lithium was not the 'star mineral' it is now) - who was aged, but still totally enthusiastic, yes there was a resource, which should be mined.
World-wide jobs are getting harder to come by, - so - hopefully this mine will yield its riches and will be of benefit to the locals - and maybe the remaining investors on here, if they have the patience to keep holding.
Good luck to all
Servus (probably 'Tschau', now)
