@Beton2 I have been ticked off by Carbondriver for posting on here and I was going to lay off, altogether, as I find his post offensive, and the pathetic 'hoping for good times' on here embarrassing and boring.
Then I read your post.
What business have you, berating 'Austria' and 'Austrians' for not mining? Austria has a long mining history - right next door to Wolfs lies the county of 'Steiermark' which has a long history of iron ore mining, then there was gold in the Tauern, but the Romans and Celts probably got it all. There is and was also coal, there is still oil; there are still mountains full of semi-precious stones to be found - but Austria's biggest asset is its past with its grand musicians, artists, scientists (Freud was an Austrian), philosophers etc, but above all its beautiful landscape, which is not a bad thing to hold precious in the much diminished Austria of former times.

Here in Western Australia, when you travel north, there isn't a skerrick of ground, which hasn't got a mining lease over it. But in Europe most mining has been done and dusted long ago - agriculture was the big next thing - and later tourism. Tourism does not gel with mining, but brings in good money.
So why should 'Austrians wake up' and allow a foreign company to destroy their landscapes, their wildlife and carry the product away, anyway - with most of the profits going elsewhere?
Your post is disrespectful.
Also, I am personally aware how many joint ventures with overseas companies are conducted on Australian soil. (many Chinese - as was the first deal with which management of this company and obviously some of the posters on here made money). Most of the profits are being made by foreign companies on and with Australian mines, except if you are a lucky shareholder; they also get away with paying little tax. Why doesn't that raise your ire? Why don't you berate Australians for that?
P.S. I only skimmed over the article and found it to be heavily biassed. There is no mention that European Lithium only PLANS TO MINE AND IS NOT FULLY PERMITTED, nor that it plans to transport the material elsewhere for refinement with no certainty of job creation for the locals etc.
(The publisher seems to be part of the Springer empire, which does not have a good reputation - journalism for sale? )
It seems to me this venture was never intended to seriously create a 'productive' mine, but the mine was bought at a bargain price in order to flip at a profit. You all must have known this from the beginning, so why all the whining now?
But what do I know!? - as so many of you have told me
