Gold is steady in the early Asian session, underpinned by worries over the Israel-Hamas conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech before Congress this week wasn't a step toward reaching a cease-fire in Gaza, says Samer Hasn, market analyst at XS.com, in an email. Netanyahu reiterated his determination to achieve total victory over Hamas, which means he intends to continue the war, Hasn says. The prolonged war in Gaza sustains fears over an escalation in the war, which in turn, maintains the precious metal's attractiveness, Hasn adds. Spot gold is little changed at $2,365.31/oz.
