You're going wrong. The directors didn't "purchase" the options, they were "granted" the options. The grant was made under the "Performance Rights and Options Plan" (PROP). There is nothing significant about the timing; these options were granted at the AGM as part of the directors' remuneration packages, presumably as a reward for results achieved:
