Having short sellers is healthy for a market. They help stop stock getting obscenely over priced. It was good to see them cut DRO down to a reasonable price. They saved people who were irrationally bidding up the stock even higher from losing a bunch more money (they lost plenty as it was). It benefits all market participants if stock prices don't become over inflated. Short sellers are part of a healthy market - that way people can bet against a stock not just for it. It allows investors to keep companies honest.

I have big long position in AL3 and hold enough shares that it would be difficult to exit my positions without moving the price. Yet, I have no problem with short-sellers being in the market. They probably made a contribution to keeping AL3 priced reasonably compared to its prospects allowing me to build a position in the stock at reasonable prices. Now that I am in, they will keep doing the same for other investors, that's ok too. I'm happy to accept a return based on improvements in the companies performance rather than hype.

Disclosure: I've shorted stock twice using put warrants. Both times I profited, but was overly cautious about a short squeeze and probably should have made at least as twice as much as I actually did. I'm also active with both short and long put and call options.
