Easily explained when you go back to September last year when Xi and his comrades decided to ban the sale of some critical minerals this being prior to the tariff genius with red hair. Combine that with Xi's mines have been on a downward spiral of production due to depletion and you have a perfect storm that we are currently witnessing. The good old US of A having relied on cheaper Chinese imports for so long have been caught with their pants down exposing their vulnerabilities hence the search is on to gather western mined critical minerals.
