The small number of local boomers have been desperate to stop any activity in the area for a very long time.
They claim to have 10,000+ people against any exploration/mining, but on the weekend their protest appeared to have less than 100 people.
Also as a reminder, there's no good reason to block exploration activities. Arbitration would almost definitely rule in our favour - so all they'll achieve is a slight delay while arbitration plays out.
Mining licence is a different equation.
