They also used outcropping found on the canyon wall referenced against against exposed outcropping/sampling on top of the canyon to get a reference for the size of the ore body.
It's been speculated by Booyzen that the size of the ore body could actually be much larger then the 100kt if there are stacked systems that didnt extend to the canynon that couldn't be found without modern exploration techniques.
On top of that the original 100kt estimate was based on just 7 I believe out of the 40 previously exploited easily accessible high grade mines that were used in the 20s-40s in war time.
Obviously there is also the chance that the orebody isnt as big as anticipated but including the other previously excluded workings I doubt the deposit will be under the 100kt mark, the question for me becomes what does the grade look like at depth where its never been tested?
