When you factor in annual cost avoidance of $5k worth of fuel (say 10k k's a year) over a 5-10 year period, EV's make a bucket load of sense. If your doing 20k k's a year, double the cost avoidance.

I'm charging for free using public chargers 2-3 times a week while shopping or at the gym, if I had solar panels I'd be charging at home for free.

You need to look at whole of life cost of the vehicle, including lack of servicing and resale, not just a up front purchase price.

BTW I'm hoping we drop to 14c again so I can buy some more RNU, if previous years are anything to go by maybe a few more red days this week, then things should get better in July and August. Sold out of my position in MNS. Time will tell whether that was a good or bad decision.
