I believe that SYR has approvals to produce 11.5ktpa of active anode material (at a site in the US) at a cost of ~$3K US/t. While they have a large mine capacity they have not demonstrated the ability to operate at this capacity without disruption and have to ship concentrated from Africa. They have plans to expand the AAM plan to 48ktpa but I suspect this will still be smaller than phase II plans for RNU’s BAM facility which will have a much lower operating costs $1,400-1,900 /t. Might be off a little with the number as I’m just going from memory, I’m sure this will get straightened out by more informed commentators.
