Doubt they will ever catch up. It's not about the money, with Elon it's about his mission (sustainable energy) IMO.
I agree, humans as a whole are really slow to develop. You'd think after all the history we have behind us we would be pretty mature by now. But we still have the urge to throw sticks and stones at each other.
Lets just get on with what we can control now, ie BAM, FID, Offtakes.
