Well. speculation on my part... but if a big entity/entities wanted to accumulate, they wouldn't pump the price up all day. They'd pump it up in the morning and 'test the market,' and if supply falls out during the day they'll soak it up. Then if they want to do it tomorrow, they might take out the bid and close it low. They have to rinse out all of the supply at these levels before any mark up can begin.
