I work in the motor repair business for the supply chain of one of the largest general insurance companies in Australia.

I can tell you the freckle is flinching about EV's here and now. We insure the most telsas of any insurer by about 20:1 and i have been banging on the ev drum to be ready for years. We are paying out way to much for them, to often.

One supply side demand matter that has not been spoken about that i can see, insurers cover batteries if they are scratched and or more seriously damaged, with a new battery. It is known however unable to be substantiated that people are intentionally driving over things to get either a new battery, or depending on the value of the car, a total loss when the battery is deteriorating.

The industry is so immature that the insurers are not able to combat this as they have not prepared for it and so, policy's are not designed appropriately.

When companies like mine realise they are behind the 8 ball, i would say its reasonable to claim that the tipping point is upon us, its just that like markets, you can only really tell the bottom, when its in the rear view mirror.
