no nothing is going on- he is not suggesting we return to subsidising car manufacturing- he is just commenting that we need to start manufacturing more- maybe we start with something more modest like a car battery for example- that would be a good start- the Gov could subsidise that given the amount that the taxpayers give to the fossil fuel industry each year in tax breaks and incentives
