The Middle East has always maintained a neutral stance towards China and US relations, which is what makes this development very interesting. Saudi Arabia's foreign investments has been on the rise of late. Maybe they realise that excluding Australia from their current investment shopping spree will make it harder for them to adhere to the strict ESG regulations the world is heading towards. Call it ESG-washing.
Nevertheless, there’s nothing wrong with ESG-washing in this case because it is by its very nature a transparent system regardless. However, if they want a slice of the action, they couldn’t do much wrong then by purchasing RNU on market at these levels.
