Superb week in Washington DC for our Giga USA event. @benchmarkmin Incredible about of government side meetings, drinks receptions, and deal making happening. Really interesting seeing the critical mineral focal points shift around here over time. The clear focus this time was natural graphite and lithium. Natural graphite has been experiencing tremors since Decembers export restrictions in China. The earthquake is yet to happen but end users are fearful. The US government is trying to compel the industry to do something about it and make deals happen. Lithium has been the driver of DC critical mineral interest since 2020. The supply issues faced then are still the same faced now by the US. It takes a long time to shift the dial on these niche mineral industries and the pace needs to pick up.
