I guess super conservative people are a market segment. Boring uninformed sods must be 75% of Toyota's. How else do you explain people still buying RAV4 mild hybrids, a tech more 25 years old and not much improved during that time and of very little benefit in terms of fuel savings.

The Toyota EV is SHITE + more expensive. The Europeans are slightly more advanced than the Japanese, but lag the Chinese brands considerably in tech, value, and increasingly quality. The difference between VW's ID3-4 and the BYD in terms of quality and value is night and day.

I used to work for a Japanese auto maker in Japan 20 years back - and appreciated their emphasis on quality, but they have been left in the dust on EVs.
