Compared to China, the US is in great economic shape coming into 2025. Thanks to the IRA. It appears to me that China doesn't have much options but to put export control in place otherwise it will fall further behind economically which will just feed itself into the US machine since it is practically giving away its material below cost price. Hence, why this 'dumping' practice is unsustainable.
All it can do is to try to slow down the US as much as it can. But given how long it will take for exChina supply to eventually hit the market (12-18 months), decisions need to be made now, if we are to break the strangle hold of BS graphite concentrate prices subsided by Beijing. This situation is just what RNU needs, as an advanced Tier1 project. No wonder, we are in psuedo-FID mode!
RNU will be able to provide the market with new sustainable, resilient supply with more potential for us to go one step further and produce PSG on signing of a binding offtake, given that 99% of graphite concentrate material must go through China.
Additionally, the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has made several statements about electric vehicles (EVs) and the future of transportation in Australia I recent times, including through Driving the Nation Fund. Albo has committed to reducing transport emissions and expanding charging infrastructure across Australia through the Driving the Nation Fund. Look out for extra incentives come the run up to the election new year.
