Benchmark Minerals who are impartial predict % of anodes using natural graphite will increase by 2030. Synthetic certainly dominating now but they are incredibly polluting to manufacture (intolerably so for most jurisdictions moving forward I'm assuming) and use fossil fuels as feedstock.
Add to that synthetic is inherently more costly to produce (significantly more energy). Prices are at parity now but it seems highly likely as with many other parts of the battery chain China is selling at a large loss in order to dominate the market. No idea how long that will last but surely cannot be indefinite.
