Tier1 locations have first-mover advantage and therefore are more likely to set the tone for others to follow. RNU with all regulatory approvals and the support finance to start mining tomorrow should graphite come back to its true and fair value.
There is nothing easy about starting up a new industry to break the stranglehold of China’s dominance. Establishing new material in a setting where global supply chains are being reconstructed for resilience is not an easy task. Africa is demonstrating that it is destined to fail in this environment, and WKT's inability to move forward in spite of SYR’s warnings to halt their activity maybe more a result of their management style's inability to confront the realities of the situation. Especially, considering that they were targeting the smallest part of the market that could easily be manipulated. No wonder they couldn't make money. See attached.
Going forward, our prime minister, Albo seems upbeat over closing off the 2024 political year – including the full suite of Future Made in Australia bills. It's all about seizing the vast economic and industrial opportunities that strengthen global supply-chains to be economically resilience, and it seems to me that only Australian assets with in-country integrated projects have the capacity with a stable government, to provide what western governments and industry so desperately needs.
