I don't want to start sounding old, but I think there's a severe disadvantage in all varieties of social media. There are those that deliberately spread FUD, those that accidentally spread FUD and those that are genuinely trying to have open, honest conversations. If we repeat something many times, it somehow becomes fact, and I admit that it's very easy to fall into that trap. I would like to believe the majority of people are genuine, but being a pragmatist resulted in my ill-conceived HC username which you guys can read to be what it looks like. It is directed at the rubbish we receive from social media forums included.

What I repeat to my kids, is the importance of not following the herd and of forming your own perspective based on truth, not perceptions. And why this is important is because the herd could be Lemmings and the result of blind following that herd .. not good.
