Well David Christianson responded to my email regarding Solid State Batteries replacing LFP Batteries and what it would mean for RNU, below was his response
"Thanks for your message. You make an interesting point on solid state batteries. Whilst they may be uneconomic now, things may change, and the current weak graphite market may provide a window during which technological advances may outpace the development of projects like our BAM project. It’s hard to handicap the pace of technological advances on solid state, but it’s similarly difficult to forecast other changes in traditional graphite batteries. For example, the addition of silicone has the potential to significantly increase the functionality of anodes (while still relying predominantly on graphite). To a large extent, nothing is standing still, even as the market remains weak. We continue to see new investment in operations relying on graphite anodes, with the vast majority of these investments occurring in China, but also some very noteworthy investments by current large anode players outside of China – including BTR in Indonesia and Morrocco, Shangtai in Malysia, POSCO in Korea and Mitsubishi Chemical in Japan. These new facilities, which are likely to be the next “wave” of suppliers producing anodes for Western OEMs, need graphite anodes. This doesn’t mean that things won’t eventually change, but we see a relatively long future for graphite. I hope this answers your questions."
