Long time lurker, first time commenter. I have to weigh on this terrible take. Right now, a strong Ukraine means a weakened Russia. Ukraine is nowhere near strong enough on its own to combat the number of Russians in their territory and therefore require a lot of external support from Europe, the USA (although currently spotty) and of course the UK/Australia. Russia's imperialistic actions will continue to divide and weaken European nations unless stopped. Australia needs its European allies to flatten out the Australia-China power imbalance.
It is simply naive to think that the Russo-Ukrainian war is so far removed from Australia and its interests that we do not need to contribute to the war effort, especially in the global society we now live in.
